YASHICA x Hello Kitty DZ-100

The YASHICA x Hello Kitty DZ-100 is a compact digital camera that puts Hello Kitty front and centre, without forgetting that it's actually there to take photos.

This pink special edition pairs YASHICA's simple point-and-shoot setup with an official Hello Kitty design, making it as much fun to carry around as it is to shoot with.

There's an 8MP camera, autofocus, digital zoom, built-in LED flash and a 2.4-inch screen, plus video recording when you want something beyond stills. It's rechargeable over USB-C and records everything to a microSD card.

It's easy enough for a first camera, small enough to take out with you and distinctive enough to appeal to Hello Kitty and camera collectors alike.

What to expect

This is a fun, simple compact digital camera.

The camera's native imaging specification is much more useful to understand than the big resolution number on the box. YASHICA lists the DZ-100 as an 8MP camera, with selectable output resolutions extending up to an interpolated 44MP.

You also get autofocus, image stabilisation, ISO 100–400, built-in LED lighting and a minimum focusing distance of around 10cm.

Developing

No developing required.

Photos are saved as JPEG files and videos as AVI files to a microSD card. The camera has a built-in rechargeable 700mAh lithium-ion battery and charges/connects over USB-C.

A microSD card should be used for storage.
