Sekonic L-508 zoom

The Sekonic L-508 Zoom Master is a serious handheld light meter built around one particularly useful feature: a variable 1° to 4° zoom spot meter.

The zoom lets you narrow or widen the area being measured without changing position, making it useful when you want to take a reading from a specific part of a scene. It also works as an incident meter, with a 270° swivelling head and retractable Lumisphere.

It handles both ambient and flash exposure, including corded and cordless flash, with support for cumulative flash readings and multiple-flash measurement. There are also memory, averaging and brightness-difference functions for comparing readings and working out exposure across different parts of a scene.

For film photographers, the combination of incident metering and a variable spot measurement makes it particularly useful when you want more control than a camera's built-in meter can provide. It also includes cine-speed settings, making it relevant to motion-picture work.
