Minolta spotmeter F

The Minolta Spotmeter F is a serious little bit of photographic kit, designed for taking precise 1° spot readings rather than relying on an overall scene reading.

Point it at a specific part of the scene and the Spotmeter F measures reflected light through its viewfinder, giving you a much more controlled way to work out exposure. It can be used with both ambient and flash light, with the digital display showing exposure information directly in the viewfinder as well as on the side of the meter.

There are also dedicated controls for working with highlights, shadows and mid-tones, plus a memory function that lets you compare readings and work out the average between two measurements. For film photographers working with scenes where exposure really matters, this gives you a lot more information than a basic handheld meter.

The Spotmeter F dates from 1981 and has become a classic example of Minolta's professional metering equipment.
