Minolta Flash Meter III
The Minolta Flash Meter III is a classic professional exposure meter from around 1980, built for photographers working with both continuous light and flash.
It can take incident and reflected-light readings from electronic flash, flashbulbs and continuous illumination, with dedicated modes for cord-connected flash, cordless flash and multiple-flash setups. The receptor head rotates through 270°, making it easier to position when taking a reading, while the large LCD gives you the aperture reading directly to 1/10-stop accuracy.
It also has a useful multi-flash mode that can accumulate successive flashes, along with an exposure-index display for working out things like lighting ratios and flash guide numbers. In other words, this is much more than a basic handheld light meter.
For film photographers, it is a great example of the dedicated tools that gave photographers precise control over exposure and lighting before digital cameras started doing much of this work themselves.
This is a vintage item, so please use the supplied photographs to assess its condition and check what is included before purchasing.
Best for: Film photographers, studio photography, flash photography, portrait work, lighting setups and anyone looking for a dedicated vintage flash meter.
What to expect: A vintage Minolta multi-function exposure meter with incident and reflected-light metering, continuous and flash measurement, cordless flash capability and a rotating receptor head.
