The Lomography Simple Use Reloadable Half-Frame Camera takes the familiar simplicity of a disposable-style camera and gives it a clever little twist.

Instead of taking one photograph across a full 35mm frame, this camera divides that space into two smaller photographs. That means you can capture 48 photographs from the included roll of film, giving you twice as many chances to photograph the people, places and everyday moments around you.

It's already loaded with colour film, so there's no setup required. Just pick it up, look through the viewfinder and start shooting.

The half-frame format also makes for an interesting way to tell stories. When your film is developed and scanned, two neighbouring photographs can sit side by side, creating unexpected combinations and little visual conversations.

There's a built-in flash for when the light starts to fade, along with interchangeable coloured gel filters that let you add red, green or purple tones to your flash photographs.

And unlike a traditional disposable camera, this one isn't finished when the first roll is done.

Simply reload it with another roll of 35mm film and keep going.

What to expect

The Lomography Simple Use Half-Frame Camera is designed to keep film photography simple.

Because it uses the half-frame format, each photograph occupies approximately half the space of a conventional 35mm negative.

This gives you twice as many photographs per roll. The included film provides 48 half-frame exposures.

The smaller negatives will generally show more visible grain and less fine detail than full-frame 35mm photographs, particularly when enlarged.

The camera uses a fixed-focus lens and straightforward exposure settings, so it performs best in good daylight. For darker scenes, the built-in flash is useful when photographing nearby subjects.

You can also experiment with the included coloured flash filters for more playful results.

Once you've finished the included film, the camera can be reloaded with another standard roll of 35mm film.

Developing

The included colour negative film uses standard C-41 processing.

When you've finished shooting, rewind the film and take it to a lab that develops 35mm colour film.

Let the lab know you've used a half-frame camera so they can scan your photographs appropriately.

Depending on the scanning setup, you can receive individual half-frame images or paired photographs showing two exposures side by side.

Once developed, the camera is ready for another roll.
