Kodak Snapic A1
The Kodak Snapic A1 is a modern 35mm point and shoot that keeps things simple without stripping away all the fun.
It has a 25mm three-element glass lens, giving you a wide view that's well suited to travel, street photography, groups, nights out and everyday snapshots. Focusing is handled with a simple two-zone switch, so you can quickly move between close subjects and everything further away.
Loading film is easy too. Once you've put your roll in, the Snapic automatically handles film advance and rewinds it when you're finished. There's also a built-in auto flash with red-eye reduction when the light drops.
And when you want to experiment, there's a double-exposure mode that lets you expose the same frame twice and layer two scenes together.
It's an easy camera to pick up for someone starting out with film, but there's enough going on to make it more interesting than a basic reusable plastic camera.

What to expect
The Snapic A1 sits nicely between a basic reusable film camera and a more complicated vintage point and shoot.
The 25mm f/9.5 lens uses three glass elements, rather than the basic plastic lens you'll find in many entry-level reusable cameras. The wide focal length also makes it easy to fit plenty into the frame.
Exposure remains intentionally straightforward with a fixed f/9.5 aperture and 1/100 sec shutter speed. You choose between the two focus zones and the camera handles the film transport and optional automatic flash.
Kodak lists the camera as compatible with ISO 200, 400 and 800 colour or black and white 35mm film.
Developing
Standard processing depends on the film you load.
For most colour negative 35mm films, you'll use C-41 processing.
For traditional black and white film, use standard black and white processing.
Unlike a disposable camera, you keep the Snapic A1 after finishing the roll. The camera automatically rewinds the exposed film back into the cartridge, ready to remove and take to the lab.
