Kodak Portra 800, Individual Roll

Kodak Portra 800 takes the natural colour and beautiful skin tones the Portra family is known for and gives you a little more freedom when the light starts disappearing.

At ISO 800, it's a great film to have loaded when you're shooting later in the day, indoors, at events or anywhere you need a little extra speed. You can work with faster shutter speeds and lower light without immediately reaching for a flash.

Despite the extra speed, Portra 800 keeps the look nicely controlled. Skin tones stay natural, colour feels warm without becoming overdone, and the grain gives the images character without taking over.

In 120 format, it's particularly lovely. The larger medium-format negative gives the film plenty of room to show off its detail and tonality, while ISO 800 makes medium-format shooting much easier once you're away from perfect daylight.

This listing is for one individual roll of Kodak Portra 800 in 120 format.

Best for

Low-light portraits, weddings, events, travel, street photography, indoor shooting and everyday medium-format photography when you want more speed without giving up the Portra look.

What to expect

Expect natural colour, warm and flattering skin tones, visible but pleasing grain and plenty of flexibility in lower light.

Compared with Portra 160 and Portra 400, the big difference here is speed. ISO 800 gives you more freedom to keep shooting as daylight fades or to use faster shutter speeds when your subject isn't staying still.

It's not just a night film, though. Portra 800 works beautifully in daylight too, making it a genuinely versatile roll when you know you'll be moving through different lighting conditions.
