Kodak Portra 400, Individual Roll

Kodak Portra 400 is one of those films that's easy to understand once you've shot a few rolls. Natural colour, beautiful skin tones, fine grain and enough speed to handle just about anything.

At ISO 400, it's fast enough for changing light without feeling like a specialist film. Load it for a portrait session and it'll feel right at home. Leave it in the camera for a weekend away and it'll happily move between people, streets, landscapes and everyday moments.

Portra's generous exposure latitude is a big part of its appeal. It's forgiving when the light isn't perfect, while still giving you plenty of detail and smooth, natural tones when you nail the exposure.

In 120, you get all of that Portra character across a larger medium-format negative. Fine detail, smooth tones and plenty of room to work with when scanning or printing.

This listing is for one individual roll of Kodak Portra 400 in 120 format.

Best for

Portraits, travel, weddings, street photography, lifestyle, landscapes and everyday medium-format shooting. If you want one colour film you can load without overthinking what you're going to photograph, Portra 400 is a very easy choice.

What to expect

Expect natural colour, flattering skin tones, fine grain and loads of flexibility.

Portra 400 has a softer, more natural colour palette than films built around punchy saturation. It's particularly good with people, but that's far from all it can do.

ISO 400 also gives you a useful balance between image quality and speed. There's enough sensitivity for changing conditions while still producing the clean, detailed negatives that make medium format so good.

Developing

Process: C-41

Kodak Portra 400 uses standard C-41 colour negative processing, so it can be developed by most labs processing colour film.
