Kodak Portra 400, Individual Roll

Kodak Portra 400 is one of those films that's earned its reputation for a reason. Beautiful colour, forgiving exposure latitude and some of the nicest skin tones you'll find on colour negative film.

At ISO 400, it's fast enough to leave in your camera and get on with shooting. Take it from bright daylight into softer afternoon light, shoot portraits, travel, street or everyday life and it'll happily come along for the ride.

Portra's colour is where things really start to shine. Skin tones stay natural, colours feel rich without becoming too loud, and highlights have a lovely softness to them. There's plenty of detail too, with remarkably fine grain considering the extra speed.

It's professional film without feeling like you need to be a professional to shoot it. If you want one roll in your camera that can handle a little bit of everything, Portra 400 is very difficult to go past.

This listing is for one 36-exposure roll of Kodak Portra 400 35mm film.

Best for

Portraits, travel, weddings, street photography, lifestyle, fashion, everyday photography and anyone looking for one versatile colour film to keep loaded in their camera.

What to expect

Expect natural colour, beautiful skin tones, fine grain and plenty of flexibility when the light changes.

Portra 400 has excellent exposure latitude, which makes it particularly forgiving if your exposure isn't absolutely perfect. It also handles overexposure beautifully, giving you room to work without highlights immediately falling apart.

Compared with Portra 160, the extra speed makes it a more flexible everyday option. Compared with Portra 800, you'll get finer grain while still having enough speed for a wide range of shooting conditions.
