Kodak PIXPRO FZ45 (need to add pink, white, black)

The Kodak PIXPRO FZ45 is a straightforward little digital point and shoot made for taking with you pretty much anywhere.

It has a 16MP sensor and 4× optical zoom, covering the equivalent of 27–108mm. That gives you a useful wide angle for groups, travel and everyday scenes, with enough zoom to get a little closer when you need it.

There's a 2.7-inch screen, built-in flash and Full HD video, along with automatic shooting modes that keep things simple when you just want to point, frame and shoot.

It also runs on two AA batteries, which feels refreshingly uncomplicated. If they run out while you're away, replacements are easy to find rather than having to stop and recharge the camera.

What to expect

The FZ45 is designed around simple point-and-shoot photography, but its 4× optical zoom gives you more flexibility than a basic fixed-lens digital camera.

At the wide end you've got a 27mm-equivalent view, which is useful for groups, street scenes and travel. Zoom all the way in and you reach 108mm equivalent, giving you a useful short telephoto without changing lenses.

There's also a macro mode that can focus as close as approximately 5cm, plus automatic face detection, smile and blink detection, panorama mode and digital image stabilisation.

This isn't trying to be a high-end camera. It's a compact, easy-to-carry point and shoot that's ready when you want to take a photo without turning the whole thing into a production.

Developing

No developing required.

Photos are saved as JPEG files and video as MOV files.

The camera has approximately 63MB of internal memory and supports SD, SDHC and SDXC cards up to 512GB. Kodak recommends Class 10 or faster memory cards.

The FZ45 runs on two AA batteries, and Kodak includes two starter alkaline batteries in the box along with a USB cable, wrist strap, quick start guide and warranty documentation.
