Kodak Ektachrome E100, Individual Roll

Kodak Ektachrome E100 is a classic colour slide film for photographers who want clean colour, fine grain and the unmistakable look of a positive image straight from the roll.

Unlike colour negative film, E100 produces a positive transparency, giving you a finished image on the film itself. Colours are clean and natural rather than heavily saturated, with particularly good neutrality through whites and lighter tones.

At ISO 100, Ektachrome is happiest when there's plenty of light. It's a beautiful choice for landscapes, travel, architecture, still life and carefully considered portraits, especially when you want sharp detail and colour that feels crisp without being overdone.

Slide film rewards careful exposure more than colour negative film, so E100 suits photographers who enjoy slowing things down and getting the shot right in-camera.

This listing is for one individual roll of Kodak Ektachrome E100 in 120 format.

Best for

Landscapes, travel, architecture, still life, portraits in good light and medium-format photographers looking for the distinctive colour and clarity of slide film.

What to expect

Ektachrome E100 has a clean, crisp and controlled look. Expect fine grain, strong detail and natural colour, with less of the heavy saturation associated with some other transparency films.

Because it's slide film, exposure latitude is tighter than with colour negative film. Accurate metering matters, but that's also part of the appeal. When you get it right, you're left with a positive medium-format transparency you can actually hold up to the light.

Developing

Process: E-6

This is important: Ektachrome E100 is not C-41 film.

It requires E-6 colour reversal processing, which produces a positive transparency rather than a colour negative.
