Ilford Delta 400

Ilford Delta 400 Professional is a fast ISO 400 black and white film that gives you a bit more flexibility when the light starts to drop.

It combines a relatively high film speed with fine grain and good sharpness, making it a versatile choice for everyday photography, street photography, portraits and available-light shooting. It also works well when you want to keep shutter speeds up without moving all the way to a very high-speed film.

Delta 400 is rated at ISO 400, but Ilford gives it a useful exposure range from EI 200 through to EI 3200 when processed appropriately. That makes it a particularly flexible option if you're shooting in changing light or want to deliberately push the film for a different look.

Each 35mm cassette contains 36 exposures and is DX coded for use in compatible 35mm cameras.

Street photography, available-light photography, portraits, everyday shooting, action, documentary work and black-and-white photography in changing light.

What to expect

A 36-exposure roll of ISO 400 black-and-white negative film with fine grain and strong detail. A good choice when you want more speed than Delta 100 while still keeping a relatively clean, detailed negative.

Developing

Black-and-white negative film. Process using a standard black-and-white negative film developer.
