CineStill 50D

CineStill 50D is a daylight-balanced 35mm colour negative film with very fine grain, high detail and a distinctive look.

Rated at EI 50 and balanced for 5500K daylight, it is best suited to bright conditions where you can take advantage of its fine grain and high resolution. It works particularly well for portraits, landscapes, travel, street photography and other daylight shooting.

One of its defining characteristics is halation around bright point light sources. Lights and highlights can develop a soft red glow, giving images a little more character, particularly in backlit scenes and around artificial lights.

CineStill prepares the film for standard C-41 colour processing, so it can be processed through most colour film labs. It can also be processed using ECN-2 chemistry.

Best for

• Bright daylight
• Portraits
• Landscapes
• Travel
• Street photography
• Backlit subjects
• High-detail photography
• Shooting where fine grain is important
• Photographers who like distinctive halation around bright lights

What to expect

50D is a slow EI 50 film, so it is better suited to good light than darker conditions.

Expect very fine grain, strong detail and a daylight-balanced colour response. The film also has its characteristic halation, which can appear as a soft red glow around bright point light sources.

It is a good option if you want something cleaner and more detailed than a typical ISO 400 film, while still having a recognisable CineStill character.
