Kodak Professional Portra 400

Kodak Professional Portra 400 brings one of Kodak's most versatile colour films to the 4×5 large format world.

Rated at ISO 400, it gives large format photographers more flexibility than slower sheet films, particularly when you're working on location or dealing with changing light. Portra's natural colour, smooth skin tones and wide exposure latitude make it particularly well suited to portraits, fashion, landscapes and environmental work.

In 4×5, you get all of that with the detail and depth of a large sheet-film negative. The fine grain and high sharpness give you plenty to work with when making large prints or high-resolution scans.

Each box contains 10 individual 4×5 sheets.

What to expect

Expect natural colour, smooth skin tones, fine grain and plenty of exposure flexibility.

Portra 400 is particularly known for its treatment of skin tones, which is one reason it remains a common choice for portrait and fashion photography. Kodak also positions it for nature, travel and outdoor photography where lighting conditions may be harder to control.

At ISO 400, it also gives you useful extra speed for large format photography, where smaller apertures and slower lenses can quickly lead to long exposures.

The 4×5 version uses a 0.19mm ESTAR thick base and must be loaded and unloaded from film holders in total darkness.

Developing

C-41 colour processing.

Kodak specifies standard Process C-41 chemistry for Portra 400, including the 4×5 sheet-film version.
